A Little About You……….

I am a native New Englander living off the coast of Maine. I have a great appreciation for creativity, and I’ve been making fiction (in some form or other), art, and poetry since I was a boy. I love cats, old houses, nature, music, and books.

A Little About Your Writing……….

I write imaginative fiction, otherworldly stuff largely. A number of my books are ghost story collections set in 18th and 19th Century New England and Britain, but I’ve also written a fantasy collection called WESTERMEAD and a fantasy novel called FELLENGREY. I have also written things based in my brother Jeffrey’s fictional future city Punktown.

What Inspired You To Start Writing?

My older brother Jeffrey was my biggest inspiration. He took up writing before I did. Our imaginations comingled as children, and the creativity born of that sharing and mutual inspiring led to hand drawn comic books, acting out tales with toys in a puppet show manner, and eventually fiction writing.

How Has Writing Changed Your Life?

It has married me to my aesthetic in an expressible way and allowed me to explore varied interests, to learn through research. Writing has allowed me to express my identity, to hopefully entertain, and to indulge my need to create. Exposure to the world of writers and publishers has also facilitated dear friendships.

What Is Your Favourite Book, Ever?

I am tempted to say that my favorite book would be Dylan Thomas’s collected short stories, or the collected works of M.R. James, but, seeing as my favorite story seems to be Dickens’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL, I think I’d have to go with that as my favorite book.

What Is The Best Piece Of Writing Advice You Could Give, And Why?

Don’t write what you think the public wants or to hop on a craze. Write what you are compelled to write from the inside, or some part of you will feel false.

If You Were A Dragon, What Kind Of Dragon Would You Be?

I would be a night dragon tucked safely away from the crazy world, snug in a lovely wilderness, in a cozy den populated by books and cats.
